The Louisburg High School Band is Franklin County's largest student organization. Approximately 20% of the student body at Louisburg High School is in the band program, which gives our band the distinction of having one of the highest participation percentages in North Carolina.
John Philip Sousa said it best when he proclaimed that music should be melodious. The Louisburg Band adheres to this philosophy and performs traditional, tonal, melodious band music. Inside the auditorium at Louisburg High School is posted a quote expressing Mozart's opinion of music; this quote is the motto of the band:
"The passions, whether violent or not, should never be expressed to the point of disgust, and music should never offend the ear even in the most horrifying situation; rather it must always be pleasing to the ear and thus remain music."--- W. A. Mozart
